What are the purposes and agreements for the Room?

Purpose

In Curi, the purpose of a room is a clearly defined goal that represents the desired outcome or main aim behind its creation. It is initially set by the user with the assistance of Curi AI when they open up about the situation they are facing in the room. Curi AI will gather relevant information about the situation and any other individuals involved, helping the user to set the goal and define what they aim to achieve from the conversation in the room. This purpose then becomes the room’s mission statement, which both Curi AI and the user will work toward resolving. The established purpose will be displayed in a grey overlay labeled “Purpose,” with an edit button allowing users to modify it as needed in the chat interface.

When the user wants to invite another person to the room, Curi AI will encourage them to refine the initial purpose into a “Proposed Purpose,” which now defines the expected outcome that the user wants to achieve from the conversation with the other participant. The invitee will see the Proposed Purpose of the room when accepting the invitation to join and can also co-create it after accepting the invitation, making it a mutual agreement co-created by everyone involved in the discussion.

Ground Rules and Agreements

The Ground Rules and Agreements in Curi are a set of expectations, rules, commitments, and guidelines that participants agree to follow while interacting in the room. These agreements help to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive environment by establishing the behavioral standards for discussions and interactions within a room. This feature is introduced later in the room, during the collaboration. When the user wants to invite another participant, Curi AI will offer a grey overlay labeled ‘Agreements,’ featuring ‘Add Agreement’ and ‘Done’ buttons, allowing the user to draft the agreements privately and submit them to Curi AI. Curi AI will then review the agreements and suggest modifications to ensure the conversation remains productive and constructive. The invitee can also propose changes to agreements after accepting the invitation.

Some specific areas the Ground Rules and Agreements cover are:

  • Respectful Communication: Ensuring that all participants communicate in a courteous, considerate, polite, and non-confrontational manner to promote mutual respect.
  • Confidentiality: Protecting sensitive information shared within the room and maintaining privacy.
  • Participation Expectations: Setting clear guidelines for active participation, engagement, and behavior during discussions to ensure productive collaboration.

Of course, while the room’s Ground Rules & Agreements should be adhered to in the room, an organization may have it’s own set of organizational policies, agreements etc, and the room’s Ground Rules & Agreements do not replace nor supercede the organization’s policies, agreements or other guidelines for behavior and communication.

What are Rooms?

In Curi, a Room is a collaborative space designed for users to address situations, work through challenges with Curi AI, or engage in meaningful and constructive dialogues with others. Users can create a Room, define its purpose and objectives, set ground rules and agreements, and invite participants to join in order to work collaboratively to resolve conflicts and disagreements. Throughout this process, Curi AI facilitates conversations to ensure that interactions remain constructive and productive.

The Room can be a single-user room with just the user and Curi AI and a two user room with two participants. The Room features two distinct types of chat. The Private Chat provides a confidential space where users can communicate solely with Curi AI. This chat is private, visible only to the user and Curi, ensuring a secure environment for reflection, guidance, or assistance. On the other hand, the Public Chat is a collaborative space where users can invite another user to join and engage in discussions to address situations or resolve conflicts. Conversations in the Public Chat are guided and analyzed by Curi AI in the Private Side of the Room, promoting constructive dialogue and fostering effective collaboration among participants while preventing escalation.

Who is Curi AI?

Curi AI is an advanced AI-powered assistant designed to provide constructive solutions for workplace-related conflicts, alleviate workplace stress, and facilitate early conflict detection. By leveraging advanced natural language processing and machine learning techniques, Curi AI offers real-time personal coaching and support to its users based on their needs and actions. It provides empathy-driven guidance and proactively identifies potential issues even before they escalate by analyzing and learning from users’ communication patterns and specific situations. Curi AI serves as your trusted personal coach, a compassionate listener, and a valuable learning tool. It is there to guide you through life’s toughest challenges, offering thoughtful support when you need it most. With Curi, you can not only address immediate concerns but also develop the skills and insights needed to handle future challenges with confidence and resilience.

What’s the difference between the Private Side of the Room and the Public Side of the Room?

In Curi, Private Side of the Room and the Public Side of the Room serve distinct purposes to facilitate effective conflict resolution and communication. The Private Side of the Room provides a secure, confidential environment where users can address their issues, express concerns, and collaborate with Curi AI privately. Users can draft and refine their responses in this space with the guidance of Curi AI, ensuring their conversations remain entirely confidential. To create a private room, users simply tap the “Create Room” button on the Rooms page, where only the user and Curi AI participate, guaranteeing privacy. Within the Private Side of the Room, users can discuss challenges, ask questions, request support, or even vent their emotions in a safe and secure environment. During emotionally charged moments, Curi AI guides users with empathy, helping them calm down and feel heard. It assists in developing appropriate and respectful responses, ensuring users feel supported and heard before they choose to share their thoughts in a Public Side of the Room to prevent further escalation of conflict.

In contrast, the Public Side of the Room is designed for open dialogue among participants, with Curi AI providing guidance to ensure conversations are productive, constructive and focused on resolving conflicts collaboratively. Public Side of the Rooms are created when a participant is invited to a private room and accepts the invitation, splitting the room into private and public areas. Content shared in the Public Side of the Room is visible to all participants and is not confidential. Users in this space can engage directly with others, respond to messages, share content, and use additional features like starring messages, taking notes, or viewing message details. However, responses to messages are prepared in the Private Side of the Room with Curi AI before being shared publicly.

The role of Curi AI varies across the two spaces. In the Private Side of the Room, it provides real-time assistance, offering suggestions, feedback, and conflict resolution strategies in a fully confidential manner. In the Public Side of the Room, Curi guides the overall conversation but redirects users to the Private Side of the Room when they need help drafting respectful and thoughtful responses.

Once a private room’s purpose is fulfilled, users can archive it for future use, with the ability to resume conversations from where they left off. In the Public Side of the Room, even after some participants leave, the chat history remains accessible to the remaining participants, who can continue discussions. However, departed participants cannot view new messages or content.

What is the Panic Button?

The Panic Button in Curi is a yellow, lightning-shaped icon located at the upper right corner of the application’s header, serving as an immediate support feature. It opens a Panic Overlay that includes chat interface with Curi AI, AI-generated quick-response buttons and a text input field, allowing users to express their feelings and seek support during moments of distress, panic, or anxiety.

The Panic Button is accessible from key sections of the platform, including Curi Home, the Rooms page, inside rooms, the dashboard, the notes page, and other essential areas. It is typically positioned at the upper right corner of the page’s header, to the left of the notification icon, ensuring that support is always within reach. When users feel overwhelmed, scared, or distressed, particularly during conversations in rooms, they can click the Panic Button to receive immediate assistance.

Upon clicking the Panic Button, the Panic Overlay appears where users can either type their concerns in the text input field or select from AI-generated quick-response buttons with predefined emotions such as “I feel anxious” ,“I feel angry” and more. This allows users to quickly communicate their state of mind, even if they are too panicked to type. Curi AI then responds empathetically, offering reassurance and guidance through techniques such as grounding exercises, breathing practices, and meditation, helping users regain emotional stability.

Additionally, Curi AI adapts its responses based on previous panic interactions and room activity, tailoring its support to align with the user’s preferred stress-relief methods. In cases where there is a potential risk to the user or others, Curi AI will provide immediate help options, including hotline numbers or contact information for local first responders, depending on the severity of the circumstances, ensuring the safety of the user and those around them.

By offering a separate chat interface for emotional support, the Panic Button allows users to step away from ongoing conversations and create a safe space to collect their thoughts.

Does AI in Curi Home have different priorities than other modules?

Curi Home serves as the starting point and primary chat space within Curi , where users first interact with Curi AI. It acts as a flexible and open-ended environment, allowing users to give tasks, revisit previous tasks, or simply explore what they need at the moment. Unlike the more focused, purpose-driven rooms within the app that are designed to address specific challenges or conflicts, Curi Home AI is designed to adapt to whatever the user is experiencing. It provides general guidance, directs users to appropriate features within the app, and, when necessary, suggests external resources, making it a versatile and supportive space for users.

Moreover, Curi AI will also help you stay updated on your highest-priority tasks by adjusting the UI elements on the Curi Home. On the Curi Home, you can see the AI-generated Magic buttons with suggestions for actions.
